Hessmer, Louisiana Speed Traps
Collision Repair Shop
There is a collision repair shop on the highway coming from Mansura right before you get to the stop sign before the Shell. In the summer time, the trees there are full and you can’t see him until you are right on him. In winter it’s not so bad, because the trees have lost their foliage. The speed limit changes from 55 to 40 and then to 30. Like one poster said, usually the locals get away with speeding (about 3 to four miles over) but not many out of towners.

Second location is Hwy 114, from Mansura, Patrol is sitting at the Cleco sub station. Also the patrol sitts at the Baptist Church, in the parking lot. Hwy 115
On both north and south sides of town, as well as the
Hwy 115 / 114 intersection in the center of town, you’re guaranteed a ticked for doing only 2mph over the limit. You’ll also get pulled over for non-functioning lights,
i.e. brake, tail, or headlights. With binoculars, they know if you’re wearing a seatbelt before you can even spot them. Most locals can slide by in this tiny town, but the cops are totally ruthless toward out of towners.
