Kenner, Louisiana Speed Traps
1300 I-10 West
Patrolman sitting in median facing oncoming. Picked me out in left lane, although, cars passing me on right & I was waiting for traffic to break so I could merge over. I was the only out-of-state vehicle I saw at the time. Patrolman wrote me up for going 71 in 60. My speedometer said 65 at the time he would have clocked me if it was me he clocked. I asked to see the radar, which did show 71, but could have come from another vehicle. The officer was unable to tell me when his gun had been calibrated last, Just snickered, said whenever it’s supposed to be & have my attorney get the records.
Power Blvd./North/South bound
Watch for Kenner Police in median. Speed limit is 35 and you will be ticketed for anything over 37 m.p.h. These officers are trained extremely well and operate like robots. Your chances are better at winning the lottery than talking your way out of a ticket.
Airline Highway (US-61)
This radar trap is directly across from a Shell station that would be on your left side if you were traveling east-bound on US-61. There are two policemen wearing neon-colored "construction vests", which is why I didn’t notice they were cops at first. They are standing behind a large trash can as they point the laser gun at oncoming cars, so they are for the most part hidden. They park their cop cars about 60 feet back in a parking lot, one with it’s hood up, as if to appear that it’s broken down and other cops are perhaps helping him out. Speed limit was also recently lowered to 45 from 55 mph. I was given a ticket for going 60 in a 45. All the other times I’d been there it was 55 mph, so go figure…
Enforcement is EXTREMELY viscious; they are literally pulling them over and writing them tickets as fast as they can. Took them less than five minutes to issue me my ticket. As I was leaving I watched them pull over two more people – at the same time!! *Side note: I had my GPS with me, and it keeps a log of the track you make. GPS track log says I was only going 51. Wonder if I could use this in court to get a reduction on my ticket?
Between Jeffson Hwy and Short Street
Sit in the parking lot, behind the white picketted fences on the north side of Williams Blvd. On the opposite side of the museums. Very low visibility.
Loyola Dr., East and West Loyola Dr. between I-10 & W. Esplanade
Cops sit on the side streets with Radar or Lidar. E & W Loyola speed limits are very low for a divided street with a median, 20MPH. The cops are very mechanical, little chance of talking your way out of ticket.
