Livonia, Louisiana Speed Traps
Monitors and enforces entire city limits from overpass west of town to the east limit. Legilature attempted topass a bill limiting the amount of revenue a city in Louisiana could generate with speeding citations. The cheif of this department was a staunch defender of his fund generating machine.
Abrupt change is speed limit to 45 mph when one thinks one is still far out of the town limits. The speed limit of 45 mph begins early and ends late when travening east or west.
If going eastbound on US 190 they like to sit (backed up) along the railroad tracks in th bushes….about 1/2 mile east of the Chevron station near the city limit sign. I travel every day and Always see vehicles pulled over ……No Warnings either
Before you get to the infamous Krotz Springs, here is another economy booster… drops from 55 to 45 with no posting until you SEE the 45 mph sign. Don’t be fooled by those passing you! AND THEY MEAN "45" NOT "50"! no 5 mph leeway in these parts! and don’t waste your breath trying to talk your way out of it ‘cos he ain’t listening! This is a high commute area to Baton Rouge and there is $$$ to be made!
Two city police cars working Airline Highway all day on Saturday (LSU game day). Court is scheduled in Livonia City Court. Officer makes sure you are aware of instructions for sending money.
