State Highway 22 near West Causeway Approach Avenue

Mandeville, LouisianaJan 27, 20080 Comments

Late night and early morning there is a Mandeville police officer sitting in the left turn lane facing westbound 22 right after the left turn barrier for the West approach. He sits with all of his lights off, so you can’t see him, but he can see you. He is looking for speeders along with red light runners, as St.Tammany hasn’t approved redlight cams.

State Route Lake Pontchartrain Causeway near Interstate 10

Mandeville, LouisianaFeb 10, 20070 Comments

The speed limits on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway are strictly enforced. There is also some confusion on what exactly the speed limit on the Southbound span is. The Southbound span has a day speed limit of 65 and a night speed limit of 55. The views of what constitutes day from night is up to the Causeway Police Officer. The bridge has its very own police department. They are extremely strict. I’ve gotten a ticket for going 65 Southbound when I thought it was day, and the officer said it was night. I’ve also gotten a ticket for driving 67 in a 65 going northbound. The major traps are at the "crossovers". There is also the now-unused 9 mile crossover on the Southbound span that always has a Causeway Police Officer in it. If you’re on it, do not speed. You will get a ticket. If you’re driving Southbound, and you’re not sure if it’s day or night, it’s night.

Interstate 12 near near parish line,

Mandeville, LouisianaJul 12, 20040 Comments

Was stopped this morning about 10:15 a.m. 7/12/04

Airplane was flying over "the trees", more on tangi. side. about 5 LASP cars were on st. tammany side waiting for the airplane to say which cars to stop. Guy in airplane has stopwatch and will time cars going between two points to determine speed.

Interstate 12 near Exit Number Robert

Mandeville, LouisianaMay 31, 20040 Comments

State police. One officer stands on top of overpas, usually Robert, sometimes the one closer to the airport exit. Shooting westbound traffic with LIDAR (laser) 4 state police cars further up the road waiting for the calls of who to pull over. Detectors wont save you from this, once you pick it up they have you, my lidar jammers are going in this week.
