Metairie, Louisiana Speed Traps
St. George Avenue near State Highway Jefferson
Motorcycle cop behind heavily vegetated area in front of 648 St. George in Metairie off Jefferson Highway. Not sure if the cop even used the radar (too much stuff in the way of his line of site). Cop refuses to let you see the radar too!
Oaklawn Drive near Metairie Road
There is usually a motocycle cop halfway down Oaklawn sitting on a corner with a radar gun in hand. If you go slightly over the limit, you have a good chance of getting pulled over. Also, sometimes the cop will hide behind larger cars/vans.
10 Road near under cleary bridge
On the frontage road. No posted speed limit signs–cop sits on motorcycle and uses radar
Elise Avenue near Airline Highway
Officers on motorcycles are on Elise Avenue in the mornings when school buses are loading and unloading at the public schools about one mile up the road. The area is marked for a school zone with the proper 20 mph speed limit signs. If you are traveling one mph over the speed limit, they WILL right you a ticket. I have observed this to be a daily routine for years.
Causway Blvd. between Jefferson Hwy and River Road
Drivers come off the overpass in Metairie, where speeds of 50 mph are acceptable, to a smaller street right pass Jefferson Hwy. Here the speed limit drops to 20 mph. Most people go about 30 mph trying to make the red light at the end of the street as it turns onto River Road. Cops stand on side streets and median with radar and pull you over if you go above 25 mph.
