Claiborne Ave just inside parish line (at the water plant)

New Orleans, LouisianaFeb 13, 20030 Comments

Motorcycle officers (2-4) pull over several cars at once. In the morning they catch drivers heading into the city & in the afternoon they sit on the other side of the street behind a huge oak tree to catch drivers heading into Jefferson Parish.

Jefferson Davis Pkwy – I-10 Overpass

New Orleans, LouisianaAug 10, 20020 Comments

When you go down the steep overpass coming from the direction of Earhart Expressway during either the morning or evening, there are cops sitting down at the bottom of the overpass. I didn’t see where they point the gun from, but I was told I was doing 47 in a 35. I couldn’t have been doing more than 41. They pulled over 5 other cars as well, and when I went to work the next day, 2 people were came to our department complaining of the same ticket. Luckily, I got this $300 ticket fixed. BEWARE.

Robert E. Lee between University of New Orleans and Paris Ave

While I say radar, it is doubtful that they do more than eyeball speeders leaving the University during school zone hours, which I believe is 2:30-3:45, even though you rarely see children there at ANY time of day. There are two signs, one on each side of the street, but they are obstructed by trees. Be on the lookout for a police cruiser with its trunk open (a very effective disguise, judging by how many tickets they write per day). Cop will jump into the street to get you no matter what side you are on, and anything over 25 is liable to get you pulled over. No way to talk him out of it, and he will most likely seize your license if you are going 30 or over. Remember, its a school zone so fine is ridiculous, and you have to go about 2-5 weeks with only a paper ticket as your license (quite embarassing!)

Northbound on Carrollton at 1-10 onramp

New Orleans, LouisianaJul 31, 20020 Comments

There is a group of 2-5 motorcycle cops on the right hand side of S. Carrollton (northbound side of street) directly at the entrance to 1-10. It appears that they are checking for registration/inspection stickers, not speeders (I have not been stopped), as they seem to eyeball the drivers side of each car in a line (will even cause the flow of traffic to come to a stop to inspect) and always pick out quite a few "offenders" at once. I see them several times a week. They are aggressive and relentless. They work especially hard at rush hours and midday.

A motorcycle cop frequently hides behind some bushes next to Marconi Meadows as you are approaching Harrison Ave. Speed Limit is 35. Watch out between 3-7 PM
