Interstate 10 near US Highway 90

New Orleans, LouisianaSep 19, 20070 Comments

Until Monday 09/17/07 I-10 and US 90 going from Metairie through New Orleans was patrolled only by NOPD. As of Monday the Louisiana State Police was added to this assignment due NOPD’s lack of manpower. They will be strictly enforcing the speed limits out there, And as many of us live here know. Since the storm people are going easily 80+ mph in New Orleans East. State Troopers are taking this assignment seriously, So be ready ! They have alot more equipment then NOPD….They have planes for speed enforcement.

Canal Street near Broad Street

New Orleans, LouisianaSep 06, 20070 Comments

The cops are on foot, they are not even in vehicles. I was driving down Canal Street headed twords Canal Blvd. and a police man jumped infront of my car! He was furious w/ me that I almost hit him so he approached my SUV cursing and hollaring at me. The speed limit is 35?! Which I have never saw a sign that states that and if you drive with the flow of traffic you will do 45 which is the reasonable speed limit. The cops are more likely to give speeding ticket/seatbelt tickets than arrest juviniles for selling drugs. While I signed my violation I noticed and pointed out that a juvi was selling drugs right infront of us, he said, " I dont see what you are talking about, I am here to give out speeding violations not arrest drug dealers". So be very cautious! They will get you, even for 2 or 3 miles over the limit!

The Intersection is no left turn Lakebound onto Jackson from Magazine headed toward Canal Street. The signs are Pre-K and not very visible. They show up when they want to write a book of tickets in an hour.
