East Bound Hwy 190 heading in from Opelousas

Several have posted about 190 Westbound, but 190 Eastbound is just as bad. They sit just feet from the sign where it drops to 45 in order to get you even as you’re slowing down. Don’t bother trying to discuss it with them. They’re going to write you up as 54 in a 45 regardless. I used to always stop there for gas. I’ll never spend another cent in that hole of a town.

Heading weat on us 190 a cop sits in the bank parking lot. The cop faces eastbound traffic, but there is a sign that says 55 mph before the speed limit goes to 45. They are here most mornings, so watch out. I also agree with some other folks. Don’t spend any money in this town until this stops.

I am a police officer that runs radar at this location. This is just a fair warning saying that there is a speed trap there. There are apprx. 10 cops that work the radar detail in Port Barre. Slow down when you’re coming through cause we will get you. Don say you weren’t warned.

Approaching the town of Port Barre, Louisiana –West Bound–the Highway speed limit is 60 MPH. There is an advisory sign a few hundred yards ahead of a 45 MPH speed limit sign. I was stopped at night as I crossed the 45 MPH sign at about 54 MPH. The officer stated he clocked me at 61 MPH at the point I passsed the sign. It was dark, the officer crossed the median from the East bound lane to stop me. I was travelling at 45 MPH prior to the second 45 MPH sign a few hundred yards past the first 45 MPH sign. The officer allowed no time for me to decelerate from 60 MPH to 45 MPH in the distance provided between the advisory sign and the 45 MPH sign.
