Ruston, Louisiana Speed Traps
US 167 – North city limit
Speed Limit drops from 55 to 45 MPH as you enter Ruston from north. Local enforcement trap immediately around first bend. This location is not always monitored, but is set up often.
Interstate 20 near Exit Number 82
When passing exit 82 coming into Ruston from West slow down they sit under exit 83, slow down at exit 84 from East.
US Highway 167 near Where lanes divide
When traveling North on US 167 into Ruston, the 4-lane divides shortly after getting into town. There is a medium sized stand of trees in the middle and a city cop sits there and catches people regularly. You CANNOT see him until it is too late.
Louisiana Tech Campus
Campus police write voluminous amounts of speeding tickets (albeit cheap ones) all over campus. Their favorite spot, however, is on Railroad Avenue just after you turn East onto Railroad off of Tech Drive (Cooktown Road). Also watch for their white, red, and blue Crown Vics(?) at the Citgo on Tech Drive. (Donuts and coffee abound there.) Ruston police, on the other hand, are not too bad about writing speeding tickets. Definitely watch for them, however, in the I-20 median between Ruston’s three exits.
