Washington, Louisiana Speed Traps

Any slight rise in road, trap just on downhill side….even with flow of traffic, with cars passing, they will just pick a car and nail it.

As numerous others have noted this is a well-established speed trap. I know of a $165 stop for 78 and another ticket for 73! But to see how really bad it is, check out streetview on Google maps where you will see two of Washington’s finest waiting. These guys must live out there on the interstate:

Horrible speed trap. I was doing 5 miles over the speed limit. I was being passed at a high rate of speed by a car and a truck. Both of those vehicles had Louisiana plates. I had an out-of-state plate. I was pulled over and given a ticket. I got the license plates of the two vehicles that sped past me. When I offered these to the officer, he stated that he gets to choose who gets a ticket and who doesn’t. Hmm? I thought police were here to serve and protect. I now understand that the Washington police force’s job is to arbitrarily determine who should pay into their coffer.

I have been issued speed citations twice in the past 3- months in the stretch of I-49. In each instance the officer stated my speed at 83mph and each time my cruise control was set at 75mph. I drive I-49 daily and have never had an issue anywhere but, St. Landry Parish. It is a flurry of traffic citations on the 10 mile stretch of road everyday. This area is well known as being a speed trap. The officers always state that if you pay the fine within 10 dfays it will not show up on your insurance.

Its a speed trap and I’m a cop I know a speed trap. Very Very Dirty. Cops like them give good cops bad names
