Approaching Millinocket, Maine on Route 11 you will hit the town limits next to a lake just outside of the built up area. It drops from 55 to 35 to 25 in a very short distance–too short for safety and still well out of town. It’s easy pickings for the local police department and the town is usually broke, so be careful.

Rte 157, Peddler’s Hill, area through center of town.
Be careful to stay under the speed limit as you go through the area below Peddler’s Hill. Officers watch from parking lots and side streets. If you are from out of state, be especially careful. Also watch your speed when coming into town from the lake/state park area. If you are coming into town on Rte 157, slow down quickly when you pass the radio station and convenience store on your leFort At about this point is the town limits, and cops watch for vacationers roaring into town for groceries or gas.
