Westbrook, Maine Speed Traps
Bridge Street Headed Toward Downtown
When driving on Bridge Street, there is a steep hill with a curve to the left at the old spinning mill. After you crest the hill and start down the cruiser sits right at the bottom, and has you before you can see him even though he is in plain sight. The ONLY way to avoid a ticket is to do 25mph.
on new gorham rd.
police officers set in parking lots after the speed is reduced on both the gorham and westbrook ends of this rd.
Saco Street near Wayside Drive
The speed drops from 45 to 35 to 25 in a relatively short distance and the police are always going back and forth on that street, trying to catch someone who may not have noticed that the speed dropped….again! I see people pulled over on this stretch pretty much daily!

Stroudwater Street near Wayside Dr. Bypass
Police watch traffic coming from Westbrook to Portland and from Portland to Westbrook. They most often sit next to the bridge. At night you can’t see them until it’s too late. Be careful near High School speed limt drops from 35 to 25 going down a hill. They also wait near the Armory.

old portland/old gorham Road near HWY 25, maine st. westbrook
Heading east on old gorham rd. from gorham, just as you pass over the border into westbrook there is a VERY steep hill. You won’t have noticed it but there’s a tiny, faded speed limit sign changing the speed from 45 to 30. Right at the bottom of the hill sits an old cop in the most blatant speed trap I’ve ever seen. Even if you saw the sign for the change you’d have to be burning rubber to slow down to 30 fast enough while on that hill. PLus, you’re still on a major road – 30 is ridiculous and doens’t fit with the other speed limits on the road or in the area.
