York, Maine Speed Traps

Heading North on Route 1, just as you pass the traffic light at Old Post Road, the speed limit sign used to read 55MPH. For some reason in the winter, they moved the 55MPH sign about a mile North. They do patrol and enforce this.

When you enter York on Rt 1 from Kittery the speed limit drops from 45 to 35. At the lights by the 95 onramp it goes back to 40, 2 miles up it goes back to 45 and then further up it drops to 35 then 25 then 35 then 50! The area from the lights at the 95 ramp turn to the shops is where most vehicles are pulled over. My son got stopped a few years ago and he was doing 46 mph, 25 yards from the 40 sign and got a heafty ticket. This is not about that, just a warning. A

lso we have seasonal speed limits on the beach roads, 25 in the summer and 40 off season.
