Portage La Prairie, Manitoba Speed Traps
HWY 1 Portage By-Pass
The Portage La Prairie By-Pass is heavily policed, with several speed trap locations on the by-pass for east and westbound traffic. On the east end of the by-pass, the RCMP regularly sit on the south side of the overpass targeting vehicles going west coming over the overpass. The RCMP also sit in the centre median ditch – 1 km west of the Southport exit and at the Yellowquill Trail intersection, targeting either west or eastbound traffic from both locations.
Hwy. 1W & Rd 28 W (about 13km East of Portage)
As you drive West towards Portage la Prairie you will cross the Assiniboine River about 13 km outside of Portage. After crossing the bridge the highway bends slightly to the left and there are bluffs of trees on either side. After the bend in the highway and the trees is Rd28W.
RCMP have been seen here with a speed trap ready to pounce a number of times.
