Denton, Maryland Speed Traps

State police sit in a little road next to White Swan antiques that is shielded from west bound traffic. This is the area where Rt 404 goes from four lanes to two. I have seen them there at all times of the day and they are always quite busy pulling people over. At times, they will be in the east bound direction, sitting behind the sign for Antiques to Go, East.

How was Denton not on this site a long time ago? USA Today once called it 1 of the toughest speed traps in the nation. It’s easy to see why people speed (and cops wait) in Denton- there’s a stretch of 4-lane road here, a nice change after miles of 2 lane driving on 404. But this is 1 of those towns where the cops will give you a ticket for a few miles over the speed limit, no questions asked. And there’s no doubt about 1 thing- this speed trap is primarily targeting out-of-state drivers (404 is a major tourist route to the Delaware shoreline). Trust me, go the speed limit here, these are some tough cops.
