State Route 13 near Mile Marker 17

Eastern Shore, MarylandAug 11, 20041 Comments

Driving through the long straight stretch where there are lots of pine trees, there are also several median cut throughs. Although enforcement in this area is rare, when it is, it is brutal. Yesterday (9-10-04) I was driving down this stretch and my Lidar detector bleeped. I quickly braked dwon to 60mph and luckily (for him) so did a guy from Jersey who was running in the left lane next to me. In the midle of the 55mph straightaway, a cop was standing ON the center line. As we approached we both slowed to a complete stop. Off to the right I saw several victims, off to my left (hidden behind the pines) I saw two cop cars, one obviously the LIDAR shooter. The cop looked at both of us, then to our relief waved us by. Use caution on this stretch. My next door neighbor got a ticket for going 76 through the same spot and it cost him several hundred. A good radar/lidar detector and a CB is a big help.
