Rt. 355 North, intersecting Montg. Village Ave./ Quince Orchard Blvd.

Gaithersburg, MarylandAug 01, 20010 Comments

Stop Light Cameras. Technology Used: Peek Industries (Maintained & Administered by EDS) Average Ticket Cost: $75. Group Running Trap: EDS (see ‘http://www.dpwt.com/redlight/’ for details); monitored remotely, possibly with a "police" clerk. Type of car used: none. This is a Stop-Light Camera covering the two thru lanes facing North on Rt. 355 at the Rt. 355 North, intersection & Montg. Village Ave./ Quince Orchard Blvd. Sensors in the road detect a vehicle at two places before, at and possibly in the intersection. Therefore, the speed and "Racing to Make the Light" can be determined. Two pictures are taken from behind (with Flash) and the citation is mailed to the Registered Owner, who is expected to "Rat On" the driver, unless you work for Montgomery County, in which case the "ticket" may never exist. If you get caught here, you "might have heard a Siren" or "been in, or encountered a funeral procession" (not a lawyer).

On the large hill as you near the high school. Officer usually faces traffic coming from the highschool direction. I’ve only seen him at mid-day so far.

Muddy Branch Road near the Ginat Shopping Center

This trap is at the top of the hill looking north into a small valley, posted speed limit is 45, and they point the laser all the way down the roadway at least a quarter of a mile away, as you are coming south down the hill into the valley, and you probably wont be looking that far up the street unless you are looking for them. Usually it is an instructor with several cadets, no police cruiser in obvious view.
