State Route 118 near Between Accent Way and Dawson Farm Road

Popular cross county road in 118 can be made into a easy speed trap for county police. Police station is less than 1 mile away and the ever enticing 50mph speed limit is easily exceeded during anytime of the day. Most populated my biker cops who sit undetected in the median of the road.

The officer parks in the grassy median at the top of a hill between Middlebrook Rd. and Century Blvd. They then use Lidar to catch all transgressors who travel that route on their way out of the residential communities. The time is usually at the beginning or end of each month.

Interstate 270 near Father Hurley Boulevard

Maryland State Police freqently sit on the left-hand median of the southbound lanes, shooting at southbound traffic sweeping down the hill before the highway turns to the left and ascends approaching Father Hurley Boulevard (Route 27). Because of the left hand turn and the "valley," many people do not not see the police parked halfway up the hill until they are almost upon them. The speed limit has just changed from 65 mph to 55 at this point, but most drivers are travelling at least 70-75. At this point the highway has already widened from 2 lanes to 3. The officers WILL step into the highway, but they’re parked in the median and target the left-most lanes. Therefore I would consider it almost more important to trafficate to the far right lane than to slow down (although it would be wise to do that as well, before coming into view of MSP).

On Father Hurley Blvd, in between Middlebrook Rd and I-270. The Montgomery County Police park in the pool/senior citizen parking lot and catches people coming around the bend from the shoping center. It seems to be his new favorite place. He is there most nights/late evening, probaly trying to catch drunk drivers, with the speeding as the excuse to pull them over.

Heading towards 270 on Middlebrook Road, right after the ramp and just before the underpass is a little access road where officers can turn their cruisers around and get anyone comeing down the hill at an excessive speed. Also in the same direction, less then 500 feet, officers set up in a rarely used left hand turning lane, with their trunks open (to hide the lights) and make stops for people coming under the underpass at anything over 40-45.
