Lower Beckleysville Road and Wynside Lane

Hampstead, MarylandMay 31, 20160 Comments

Carroll County Sheriff usually sits at the merge areas from Wynside Lane onto Lower Beckleysville here during morning and evening commute. The road is less that .5 from the Baltimore County line where there is a different speed limit on the road. The speed limit is 30 mph (similar roads in Carroll County are around 40mph).

Falls Road North of Brickstore Road

There are often a couple of officers outside of their cars behind the double set of telephone poles holding radar devices. I have witnessed this trap during the morning commute around 7:30AM. This racket oftentimes has more than five cars pulled over at once.

Houcksville Rd. towards Rt. 30 goes from 40 mph to 35 to 25. Speed trap sits right after it goes down to 25 mph.

St. Paul Road near Houcksville & Lees Mill Road

Hampstead, MarylandSep 28, 20070 Comments

St. Paul is a single lane country road posted at 40 mph. The road changes elevation dramatically between two ridges in the terrain. It is very easy to exceed 50 mph when coasting down one side of either ridge. Town and state police like to sit at the bottom of a small "valley" between each ridge during morning and evening rush hour to catch people exceeding 50 mph. You should start braking at the top of either ridge, apply your brakes throughout the descent, and do not exceed 45 mph (which they seem to allow).

State Route 30 near Upper Ford Lane

Hampstead, MarylandJun 08, 20070 Comments

Heading NB on Route 30/Hanover Pike, make sure you are traveling only 30 mph after you pass Fairmount Road/Rt. 482. As you approach the railroad tracks, on the left past the car wash at the tire shop, the Maryland State Police, Carroll County Sheriff and Hampstead Police sit in the parking lot of either the tire shop or Crouse Ford. Use much caution, they will pull you over for just 5 mph over the speed limit.
