Laurel, Maryland Speed Traps
Cherry La. between VanDusen and Rte. 1 near Laurel H.S. B
Trap on both sides of street. Speed limit 30 mph
Contee Road, 8400 block
Speed entrapment area. Marked a school zone even though the school is NOT on Contee Road. Speed camera units are set up in front of the EZ-Storage shooting both directions.
Van Dusen between 198 and Cherry ln.
speed cameras set to 42 (speed limit is 35) both north and south bound.
Scaggsville Rd (stretch between Leishear Rd and Crest Rd)
On this stretch between Leishear and Crest a cop will usually sit at the bottom of the hill in the church’s parking lot. Usually in a unmarked brand new Tahoe. The speed limit is only 35, but many people go 45-50.
MD-216 between Main Street and Montgomery Street
On the Howard County side of 216 the speed limit is 40MPH but as soon as you cross into Prince George’s County the speed limit drops down to 25MPH. They now have speed cameras set up so that if you are doing 37MPH or over you will get a ticket, which is easy to do when you are coming across Main Street from Howard County and you hit the slight downhill right before the speed cameras.
