State Rt. 116 (Amherst Road), between Moody Corner (Gagne’s Package Store) and Granby Heights condos

This section of road is locally well know to be trapped. The speed limit is 40 MPH, but the road is mostly a wide straightaway on the south portion, nearly a mile long, which is very tempting for would-be speeders like myself. The posted limit is apparently because the area is thickly settled, and mostly residential. I was headed north at about 11:45pm on a Saturday, and was preparing to slow down to the limit on two northern curves, since that is where the trap *used* to be. I was too late–the lights were already in my rearview mirror. The officer was polite, and let me off with a warning, but told me that they regularly patrol the road. I have yet to spot the actual location of the trap, but it must be about halfway between Gagne’s on the south and the first curve on the north. The old spots were by the curve just south of Granby Heights, on either side of the road. However, one night I saw what may have been a cruiser in front of the condos. In any case, paranoia is a good thing on this stretch of road.
