Holden, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Intersection Rt31 and 122A
There are travel and turn lanes at this intersection. Often, the travel lane fills, while the turn lane is empty. They’ll nail you when you cross the yellow line to get around the travel lane cars into the turn lane. $100 bucks plus insurance charges.
Plus watch inspection stickers. Holden watches for expired ones at the beginning of the month.
Main Street across from the post office
I often see the police sitting in the lot (former Village Repair) across the street from the post office waiting for cars that are going a little too fast. Watch out, because the speed limit is 35mph
Manning Street near Trout Brook
The police sit at the bottom of the hill and catch people in both directions going over the speed limit of 40 mph. Easy to do with long hills on either side, and few houses.
Intersection of Shrewsbury ST and Holden ST
The traffic light changes from yellow to red in 2 seconds. This does not allow a safe stop and guarantees being unable to stop or exit the intersection before the light turns red. The Holden "police" (this is a local "town" business) wait to catch cars going through the "red" light.
Bullard Street Light Department Substation
Police officers often sit at the Bullard Street Substation facing South East (towards Shrewsbury St/Pinecroft Dairy). I have been WARNED (not ticketted thankfully) for doing as little as 41 in this 35MPH zone.
