Hopedale, Massachusetts Speed Traps
State Route 16
Police sit and wait at both corner of Route 16 and Hopedale St at Stone’s Furniture and also at the Waster Water Treatment Plant.
All roads
Hopedale Police have several police cars and a motorcycle. Enforcement on busy street such as Rt-16 or 140 is common. Officers also frequent side streets and are strict on enforcment in residental area’s. Police are fair and will give a warning unless you open your mouth and then it will cost you big $$$. I learned this first hand from a Hopedale sargeant. Radar detection works to late, they have you before you know it.
Route 16-Mendon Street
Cruisers park at different locations covering a one-mile stretch of road. Going South the Speed Limit changes from 35 to 30 as you go down a steep hill towards an intersection with a set of lights. Due to the hill many cars pick up speed and get stopped as a result. Going North is a similar situation, Speed Limit changes from 50 to 40 as you enter Hopedale and again there is a steep hill. The speed limit is further reduced to 30 prior to the one intersection with the traffic lights.
