Lanesborough, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Berkshire Mall Connector Road
Area is poorly marked with construction 40 m.p.h. speed limit signs, yet there is currently no construction going on to the road (the construction is right when you get to the mall entrance.) Officer sits just as you crest the hill so you have momentum from the hill as you start to descend the hill.
Parking lot of the small chapel on Route 8
Especially in the early morning, 6:00ish, the local police will sit in the parking lot of the small chapel on Route 8. (I think it’s called the Berkshire Chapel.) This is a little past Whitney’s farm stand and just before the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Lot of Village Truck sales
This is becoming less frequent, but the local police will park “mixed in” with the cars and trucks on the lot of Village Truck Sales. They’ve also been seen right next door at the small package store, which is also owned by the Village Truck Sales people.
Garage next to Getty on South Main St. (MA Rt.7)
Officers sit and monitor north and southbound traffic on Rt 7 at the garage next to Getty a few football fields past the Pittsfield/Lanesborough line.
State Highway Rte. 7 near Fire station
Rte. 7 Northbound goes from 45 MPH to 25 MPH and back up to 45 MPH within a half mile. Many speeding stops in Lanesborough along this stretch- even at night with no traffic.
Police don’t issue warnings if you’re not from town. Travelers get it the worst- common route to Vermont for skiers from Mass., Conn. and NY.
