Lexington, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Spring street just to the south of Route 2
Police park on Old Spring St getting cars coming south down the hill and over the Route 2 bridge – downslope adds speed – you really need to brake on the downslope to avoid speeding.
Waltham Street near Concord Avenue
Speed trap is at the intersection of Waltham Street and Concord Avenue. The Lexington police will park at the Shell gas station towards the back of the parking lot and face Waltham Street. I’ve never seen anyone outside of the car with a radar gun. They usually pull people over driving from Lexington towards Waltham or taking a turn after the light turns red.
Hill Street near State Highway 4/225 Mass Ave
Have picked up a cop running radar around the corner travelling northbound on Hill Street, just after you pass Lexington Golf Club on your leFort Usually mid-day or mid-to-late afternoon, although I’ve seen one there in the mornings, too.
Lowell Street, Between Woburn St. and East St.
The cops will sit behind the church on Lowell Street. The church is on the right as you go towards Woburn Street or on your left if your heading towards East Street. I believe the speed limit is 30 mph one way and the other way it’s 35 mph. Very odd. But the cops still love to sit there, especially during the commute, so watch out.
Route 2 at Intersection with 95
Route 2 East and West is crawling with state troopers around the intersection with I95 area. The speed limit here is 55mph although most cars drive by at 65mph+. Don’t drive in the outer lane alone.
