Route 20 near The Magic Lantern
Late night they sit in numerous places within a 1/2 mile of the Lantern looking for speeders & those who have been drinking. This is also an area of many accidents. Palmer Police also watch this stretch of road as you go from Palmer > Monson > Palmer in a short distance.
Brimfield Road near State Highway 32
Police park in a driveway or on the side of Brimfield road halfway down a big hill. Cars coming over the top of the hill are caught by the trap. The speed limit is 35 mph but it’s very easy to hit 50 because of the hill.
State Route 32 near Wales Road
Sit off road in parking lot across from Wales Road intersection with Rt.32 in south Monson. Use radar to catch vehicles coming down hills from Wales Road and Rt. 32 from Stafford Ct. Focus is on Ct.and out of town motorists. Speed limit changes from 45 to 35 and is easy to exceed coming down hills.
Wilbraham Road near Upper Hampden Road
Cruiser sits on the corner of Wilbraham Road near Upper Hampden Road with lights off. Cruiser able to obtain speeds from traffic approaching him/her from the rear on Wilb. Road, to the front on Wilb. Road and snagging traffic from vehicles operating from Upper Hampden Road into Wilb Road. Speed Limit is 35MPH through area. Easy to get snagged up here.
Rt 32 – Main St.
Just about anywhere between the Free Public Library to the old Zero building. They are especially active in the AM & PM ‘rush hours’. The speed limit is 30 and anything over 38 will get you noticed. The two encounters I had were courtious however.
