Newton, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Centre Street near Beacon Street
At the intersection of Centre St. and Beacon St. in Newton Center, don’t try to blow the red light or even a late yellow light. There is often a cruiser hanging out right on the off road near the Fleet Bank behind some bushes where I’ve seen people get nabbed on many occasions. If they’re not on that road, there could be one on the side of Centre St. in front of the Seattle’s Best Coffee Shop.
US Highway 30 near Walnut Street
Don’t run for the yellow light:
The intersection of Rte-30 (Comm Av) and Walnut Street is long. There’s cruiser waiting on the pavement at the NorthEast corner of the intersection. You may see him if you’re traveling north on Walnut St. or westbound on Rte-30. I’ve seen that a couple of times on a Sunday morning around 8:45am.
State Route 16 near State Route 30
They hide in the dark righ before route 30 and they pull you over if you are being shameleslly disrespectful of the speed limit.
near the intersection of beacon and walnut
Heading on Beacon street from Newton Center towards Waban Square, there Beacon street takes a moderately sharp left turn after the "4 corners" shopping area, and the speed limit drops to 25 mph. There is frequently a cruiser waiting around the bend, picking off unsuspecting cars (it’s hard to drive this stretch at less than 35 mph).
Intersection of Rt. 16 and 30/Kingdom Hall Parking Lot
The cruiser sits in the parking lot across from the fire station. He’ll get you for speeding or trying to make the yellow light (it’s a long intersection, so they can get you every time).
