Sherborn, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Lake St. heading toward Eliot St.
Infrequent, but you’ll get hammered if caught because the speed limit (25) is so slow for the road. Parks in a driveway facing the road with a speed gun, a little ways past the intersection of Lake St. and Farm Rd. Most of the time they won’t be there, but be careful.
Rt 16E after split from 27N. Eastbound side.
After turning right at the lights where 27N and 16E split, there may be a trap about 1/4 mile past the lights. This trap is so well-concealed that heading East, you cannot see the cruiser until the officer can see you. Westbound on 16 you can see the cruiser if you know where to look.
Kendall Ave after turn for Coolidge
Coming up Kendall from Speen St towards Sunshine Dairy. Up the hill and around the bend, white barn on left. On the right after bend is a driveway across from brown house. Sherborn PD sits there and runs radar. Speed limit is 20 up the hill but there is a sign for 30 right in front of the driveway cops use so most people assume it is 30 when it is 20. Have seen them all times of month but especially around last week of month.
Maple Street near Old Orchard Rd
115 Maple Street is known to sit a cop hidden in the dense brush of the driveway. Be careful, the zone is marked 30mph which is really slow for this road.
State rts. 16 & 27, Main St.
Rts 16/ Washington St. and 27/S. Main St. meet, run north as Main St for a half mile, the split into 27/N. Main St. and 16/Eliot St. (or vice versa) The police can be in any parking lot in that half-mile, on either side. Sometimes it’s one car, sometimes two. Very common – sometimes two or three days a week – in early morning before rush hour traffic. There’s also a railroad crossing with no gates, just warning lights and bell, in that half mile. They’ll grab you even if you’re already on the tracks when the lights & bell turn on, and even though the very slow train is a half mile away.
