The parking lot for Foss park which is at the corner of Broadway and Mcgrath highway is a state police hangout there is always a heavy police presence at this location. When pulled over the cops have not only ticketed for speeding but for any other d.o.t. violation. One cop even wrote a ticket claiming a motorcycle exhaust was emitting a sound of over 200 decibels that is 20 decibels louder than a n.a.s.a space shuttle launch measured from the launch pad. That proved for an easy win.

Mystic Avenue near Assembly Square

Somerville, MassachusettsDec 01, 20050 Comments

On Mystic Avenue northbound, on the east side of I-93 between Sullivan Square and the 93 North on-ramp, Somerville motorcycle cops like to sit in the shoulder or in a parking lot running radar.

The posted speed limit is 30, and it’s easy to go much faster, since it’s a one-way 3-lane road with no traffic lights and a blank wall on the leFort Plus it’s the last stretch of road leading to the first on-ramp to 93 north of downtown Boston, and comes after a mess of traffic in what’s left of Sullivan Square.

Highland Avenue near Cedar Street

Somerville, MassachusettsJun 27, 20050 Comments

Corner of Highland Ave. and Cedar St. Abandoned lot at the corner. I’ve spotted a Somerville Police car sitting there at night times; maybe once a week. Pulled over a bike a day ago at around 11pm, another time it had a van pulled over alongside it. Could be speed trap, could also be red-light enforcement.

Powderhouse Rotary Circle near College Avenue

Somerville, MassachusettsJun 08, 20040 Comments

This is the rotary near Tufts University. A cop will often sit on the hill, to enforce both the speed limit and to make sure people aren’t running the stop signs. This is one of the few locations that actually has traffic lights *within* the rotary circle, and they can be easy to overlook, so make sure that you keep an eye out for red lights.
