Springfield, Massachusetts Speed Traps
Forest Park Trail near Sumner Avenue
Have to say never thought to get stopped by a Park Police Officer in Springfield but they hide and hide well. They have unmarked traffic cars and sit going down the hill to the Duck Ponds in Forest Park on the side of the road. Believe you do not want to get stopped, the fine for speeding there is 100.00 so keep a look out.
Interstate 291 near Interstate 91
On both ramps to I-91 from I-291 westbound, I’ve seen enforcement many times on the southbound side by the Chestnut Street exit, and on the northbound side midway up the ramp (so that you can’t see it due to the Chestnut Street overpass blocking the view). Northbound enforcement is less frequent by about 50% than southbound enforcement.
Sumner Avenue near By Gus and Pauls
On 5/31 I observed two officers standing on the edge of the treebelt of Sumner Avenue by Gus and Pauls.
Sumner Avenue near Dayton Street
Two officers observed with an umarked tan colored cruiser parked on side street. As you come up toward the top of the hill before the light (where Jim Dandy’s used to be) the cop is right there to screw you. Thank God I had my radar detector to save me. Not a lot of reaction time due to the nature of the hill, location of the cop, etc.
Interstate 91
There is a state cop that likes to sit where 91 going North narrows into an S-curve. Its by the first Massachusetts Exit for Springfield. ALways sitting under a bridge and at night. You can’t see them until its too late and the speed limit drops very fast like a mile before
