Coming down the hill from the Washington Street/Common Street intersection going towards South Walpole there is always a police car in the driveway to the DPW, they will pull you over if you go anything more than 2 mph over the speed limit. There is NO POSTED SPEED LIMIT, but they claim it is 40 mph.

Walpole Police Officer always stands on the SIDE OF THE ROAD BEHIND A TREE next to his motorcycle with his radar gun out, clocking cars coming both north and south. He will manually flag you over if you are going ANYTHING over the 30 mile an hour speed limit. Travelling northbound, Officer will pull you over if you are DECCELERATING from the 40 mph speed limit coming down the hill to the 30 mph speed limit. Apparently one can’t SLOW FROM 40 MPH TO 30 MPH in a safe, gradual manner. In order to prevent being stopped by Officer, you must go from the posted 40 MPH to 30 MPH IN A SPLIT SECOND, where the sign is posted.
