Berkley, Michigan Speed Traps

On 11 mile before you enter Berkley from either Oak Park from the west or Royal Oak from the east, the speed limit is 45 mpg. Once you enter Berkley, crossing either Coolidge or Woodward, the speed limit drops to 30 mph and police will be waiting. They’re always polite and will give you a ticket saying you were going 5 mph over the limit even if you were going faster- but this is if you’re polite. The ticket will cost you $125. So I urge you to stay away from 11 Mile Road in Berkley between Coolidge and Woodward.

Divided hwy, 2 lanes each way, speed limit is 30 mph and should be at least 40 mph.. Berkley police sit in strip mall parking lot at 12 mile on the southbound side and also on side street at the end of the cemetery on the northbound side. Speed limit is ridiculously low and the Berkley police are no doubt enriching their retirement funds on this one.

Berkley police vehicles (minimally-marked cars of gray-silver color or motorcycles in warmer weather) parked in turn-arounds between Webster Ave. and 12 Mi Rd. and aiming hand-held radar guns at southbound Woodward traffic. I generally seen them during early afternoon hours.
