Square Lake Road near Interstate 75

Bloomfield Hills, MichiganJun 27, 20070 Comments

As the motorist heading south on I-75 exits the freeway at Square Lake Road headed west for Woodward Avenue, there is an extended ramp. The speed limit on the ramp is 55. The prevailing speed on I-75 is between 75 and 80 MPH. The ramp pavement is new and the inclination is to maintain expressway speed.
As the motorist proceeds into Bloomfield Hills the speed drops to 50 MPH and immediately on the right is a recreation tennis and swim club.
The officer sits in the apartment building parking lot generally shielded from view by the Swim Club sign.
By the time you see the officer, it’s too late. Most folks are still in Michigan freeway mode and are travelling @ 70 MPH. It’s three lanes so why not?
It can be there any time except rush hour. Saturday & Sunday AM or PM is more likely. Best rule is to run from I-75 to Woodward at 55 MPH and laugh at anybody who goes by.
