8 Mile Road near John R Road

Detroit, MichiganJul 30, 20071 Comments

Coming off I-75 at 8 Mile traveling West over the freeway service drive. Warren or Ferndale police are usually sitting beside a building with their radar gun pointed out the window. Every single morning they get someone coming off the bridge, right at or just past John R.

I-96 Expressway near Wyoming Street

Detroit Traffic Enforcement sits on the shoulder under the Wyoming overpass headed westbound on I-96 in the "Local" lanes.

Warren Avenue near Pharmacy

There is a new program going on in MI, "Click it or Ticket" and you would think this is Detroit’s only means of survival? I’m describing just the Warren-Evergreen area, but I’m sure they have this set-up all over the city. They (Detroit Police)have one scout car that sits with radar and watches for drivers without their seatbelts and speeders, about one block away or in a parking lot in this case, it was the drive-thru at the CVS pharmacy they have three or four patrol cars in line to get any speeders or seat belt violations, this means they pull over three to four cars every ten minutes, I counted fifteen cars in twenty minutes while I was at this CVS. I think this is pathetic Detroit has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and not to mention our insurance rates are among the highest in the country, for the police to be abusing its citizens in this manner is very frustrating.

Evergreen Road near Interstate 96

Detroit, MichiganMay 16, 20070 Comments

There is usually a Detroit Traffic Enforcement car sitting on the intersecting streets (i.e. Capitol) therefore they will catch you whether you are travelling northbound or southbound on evergreen. Regardless of direction, there is a light at the bottom of the hill. They are quick to catch you pass thru a yellow/red light. Also, they will sit at the top of the hill, which is actually the overpass for I-96) and wait to catch you speeding over which is hard not to do when you’re on the way down.

West Lafayette Street near 2nd Avenue

Detroit, MichiganJan 16, 20070 Comments

The cops will be lying in wait at 2nd Ave. There is also a very poorly positioned flashing red light at this intersection for travelers headed eastbound on W. Lafayette (the hanging light is actually over the left lane above oncoming traffic!). There is no stop sign to help you out. So, if you miss seeing the high, teeny light and blow through the intersection, gotcha!
