Grass Lake, Michigan Speed Traps

Clear Lake Rd. is normally a 45 MPH road, but suddenly drops to 35 about 1 1/2 miles north of I-94, for about 1/2 mile. The local constable enjoys hiding out alongside the road in this short stretch to nail people who do not slow down quickly enough, from either direction.

State Troopers frequently sit up on the Clear Lake Rd exit overpass, monitoring westbound traffic. They cannot be seen because they hide behind a tree up there, but nail westbound speeders by shooting them with radar or Lidar as they approach the bridge and then chasing by using the entrance ramp. They cannot be seen there from the freeway!

State and County police work this together sometimes.
They hide on the side of the old Godfordson Farm potato barns that are on the north side of Mich. Ave just west of Francisco Rd. An unmarked car will be sitting out front shooting radar, both east and west bound. Open fields and no curves in this stretch of road makes people want to travel in the 60-70 mph range.
