Grosse Ile, Michigan Speed Traps
As you come off the free bridge onto west river rd.
They will sit under the overpass for the free bridge to the north waiting for those to run the stop sign. Mostly during rush hour, but has been seen during the early evening and after midnight. Be careful for all that live off the island.
Meridian south of GI Parkway
Early morning 5:45am+ officer sits in Country Club driveway hidden by trees…if you are heading North on Meridian beware because he is clocking you and speed is 35mph. Very hard to see him until it is too late that early in the a.m.
Bridge road before Meridian
When you are using the pay bridge to come onto Grosse Ile the police often park behind the small brick building prior to Meridian. The speed limit is, a ridiculous, 25 miles an hour. This speed is seldom ever kept as you are on a down slope coming off the bridge. Just another tax for islanders to pay!
West River Road north of G I parkway
At the north end of the sewage plant, there is a small stand of trees that hide the police car. In addition, there is a small hill on West River just north of this location. Speed limit is 30 mph.
At the Church across from the gas station on Meridian Rd.
The cops like to sit in the exit drive of the church on Meridian Rd. & Macomb St. usually when it is dark.
