State Highway M18 going south out of town from 45MPH to 55MPH near City Limits sign going South out of town on M18

Just as you leave the citylimits posted 45 MPH and go into the 55MPH zone. I don’t know where they sit, or if they just patrol.

Sharon Avenue near Agate Street

Houghton Lake, MichiganMar 15, 20060 Comments

You need to be careful on all of Sharon Ave. but especially from the Credit Union eastbound going onto the Tech campus area. The avenue is winding and a little hilly and it’s very easy to drift from the posted 35 mph speed limit to 40-45 mph if you don’t watch it. Enforcement is very consistent throughout the day, with both crusisers and parked police vehicles pointing radar guns, but as is common in Houghton, if you don’t have any tickets for the last three years, you’ll usually be let off with a warning if you’re courteous (but the warning will be recorded so expect a ticket if you’re stopped a second time).

US Highway 41 near Canal Road

The Houghton cops (in the SUV’s) will site right at Canal Rd. and US 41 and watch for people coming down the big hill into Houghton mainly during the night after dark.
