Jackson, Michigan Speed Traps

I don’t know if you all get the citizen patriot, but in thursday’s (17th) article the paper had an article about the high traffic enforcement. The paper reported that they have a state officer hiding behind the tree with camoflaug enough type clothes on so you can’t see him. he is well far from the expressway (you won’t notice him). When he catches you going anything above 79 he will radio one of the 10 awaiting police cars down a side street. he will give a description of the car (so called speeding over 79) and the cop will eventually catch up to the "speeder". It’s not just state police that are involved in this scam, the state cops also gang up with the county and the city/township, so they can all build up their revenues 🙁 Please, please beware before you enter this county, make sure you have cruise set to 75-78 and you will be set except when you hit the cities rediculous 55 zone (don’t go over 69 in that area)

I see cops here all the time. Don’t go more than 8 over, they’ll get you. Speed limit is 25 even though you can go for miles and miles without seeing a speed limit sign! Police won’t pull you over unless you go over 34 or 35 going down-hill. Watch for police. If you pay attention you will see them hanging out down the side streets.

I have never personally been caught in a speed trap here on Page. But, I always see police getting someone. I have never seen a "true" speeder in Jackson County. Most people here go under the limit or only go almost 5 over. Anyway, I’ll see police fly down Page (going what looks like about 70 mph) trying to catch up to the speeder they probably clocked about 20 seconds before they took off. And when the police pull the person over they stop them in the middle of the road, not making them turn down a side street or go into an empty spot in a parking lot. I have always been annoyed having to maneuver around the police because they don’t have the common descency to get off the road. This doesn’t just apply to Page, because I’ve seen this rediculous stuff all over jackson county.

This speed trap is at the Moose Lodge across from Yogi’s party store. They sit next to the lodge building and wait for you to go by. You are going down hill and even if you coast you are up to the speed 30 to 35 mph by the time you get in front of the parking lot and then there ya have it you get a ticket. I have not personaly gotten a ticket but my son has and I have seen three others get tickets there too.
