Kalamazoo, Michigan Speed Traps
Stadium Drive near South 11th Street
Cameras point in all four directions at the intersection. Be careful!
Solon Street near Howard Avenue
As you proceed down Solon St the speed limit drops as the grade declines, just as you complete your turn there is usually a Kzoo Township, Kzoo Sherriff, or KPS officer parked either on the median where Howard splits off to Solon Street heading towards West Main or sitting on the other side by the gateworks. They usually just sit and irradiate all the time so if you have a detector you can get a whiff before they make eye contact with you. They seem especially active during late summer evenings.
Mills Street near Gibson Street
City of Kalamazoo police park their cars on Gibson street and use a hand held laser gun to pick cars off as the officer stands to the side of the road in the shadows. After taking your speed reading the officer steps out into the road directing you onto Gibson to receive a ticket from the other officer. Posted speed is 30, cross road speed limit is 40, is is a 4 lane road with a turn lane. 30 is a completely unrealistic speed limit for this road. This trap has been set up strictly for revenue generation.
Kilgore Road near Milham Park
Kalamazoo City police will sit at the bottom of the small hill infront of Milham Park on Kilgore Rd. When you are traveling on Kilgore towards Westnage Ave, watch out for Police on motorcycles with handheld radars. They will motion you to pull over into Milham Park for a nice lil ticket. (They are starting again this summer already!)
Stadium Drive near Oliver Street
Kalamazoo City Cops sit just off the road way with a hand held gun. There are no false alarms in the area (I live there so I know) so if you get laser on your radar detector, slow down.
