East N Ave between 29th and 31st streets

Kalamazoo, MichiganApr 17, 20100 Comments

East N ave is also known as Kilgore. This area is in the country and has lots of fields. On the north side of the road is a white house. There is a field that has a drive leading into it next to the property line with the house. The cop sits in this drive and blends in so he looks like a car parked in the driveway to the house. You can’t tell its a cop until you are very close to him.

Westbound on Barney after climbing the hill at Douglas.

Kalamazoo, MichiganMar 31, 20101 Comments

After climbing the hill, the rest of the road, until you reach Nichols, is a gradual downhill slope and it is easy to coast and end up going 40mph in the 30mph zone. Police will usually be sitting on the north side of the street in alleyways, parking lots or even next to driveways. I have been caught once and still catch myself speeding inadvertently on this section, without even having my foot on the gas.

Kilgore Road

I have been stopped twice between Kilgore and Romence Road. I was speeding and since there are so many high school students driving or walking in that area they do need to patrol that area.

Lovers Lane near Cork Street

Kalamazoo, MichiganOct 03, 20081 Comments

Speed limit on Lovers is 35 heading North until you get to the school and it goes to 25. They stand behind a tree in the school parking lot with a hand held gun. I talked to the officer and he can’t write tickets fast enough to keep up.

Stadium Drive near Rambling Road

Kalamazoo, MichiganJul 09, 20080 Comments

Police officer will park in between other cars for sale at the used car parking lot on the corner of Rambling Road and Stadium Drive; so they just blend in with all of the other vehicles.
I’ve seen them out there at all times of day, however I mostly see them when the traffic volume is high–usually around 3-5pm. I’ve never gotten a ticket but I’ve seen them stop many people. The speed limit is 40mph but it used to be 50mph.
