Portage Road near Cork Street

Kalamazoo, MichiganJun 17, 20070 Comments

Speed limits are between 25 and 35 mph and there are times cars are pulled over and lined up for going 5 miles over. I hadn’t received a speeding ticket for 30 years, but received 2 over a 6 month period for driving 5 miles over on Portage Road and also around the corner on Cork Street. On Cork, I was one of about 6 cars pulled over and lined up to receive tickets. I was keeping up with the flow of traffic and was no way driving recklessly. I now avoid those streets when visiting my daughter, who also received a speeding ticket on Cork Street for going 5 mph over the 25 mph limit.

Interstate 94

It’s right where they are doing the construction for widening I-94. Remember that it’s only 45mph where workers are present not 60mph, that’s how they get you.

Interstate 94 near Lovers Lane Exit

Kalamazoo, MichiganJul 22, 20060 Comments

This trap is located on either side of I-94 eastbound after Westnedge Ave. or westbound after Portage Rd. It is a road construction zone and I realize 45 mph in this zone is a fair/safe speed but it’s when you exit the site. The end construction signs that allow you to resume speed are out of sight and about 3/4 mile past where the cone zone and barrels end. Beware, that is where theyre clocking you. When you are accelerating back up to speed after it appears all construction is gone but before the end of actual construction sign is posted. No, I haven’t received a ticket but see it everyday going to work and coming home.

Stadium Drive near Howard Street

Kalamazoo, MichiganMar 28, 20060 Comments

Though it is close to a university, it is a 4 lane, wide open, hardly any cross streets or pediestrian traffic for a stretch on Stadium Drive between Howard St and Oliver St. There is this officer that all he does is trap people who can comfortabely go around 50 in a 40mph limit. It’s ridiculous and a COMPLETE waste of taxpayer money!

Kendall and Solon Crossing near Where Solon and Kendall turn into Howard Crossing

Kalamazoo, MichiganMar 19, 20060 Comments

At least 2 police cars at one time. Some are hiding on Solon heading south towards Kendall off to the left hand side on the grass. Another police car is on the median where the two one way roads turn into the divided road.
