Lansing, Michigan Speed Traps
Coleman Road near Hunsaker Road
They sit in the driveway of crossing place apartments and catch people speeding down coleman
Aurelius Road near Interstate 496
Driving north on Aurelius Road as you go over I-496, you will find yourself going downhill as the speed limit goes down from 45 to 25. I’ve seen cops there plenty of times waiting for people unable to slow down fast enough. While the speed limit dropoff is proper (you enter into a neighborhood from the bridge going north), it’s still wise to slow down ON the bridge instead of trying to slow down while going downhill.
Shaw Lane near Birch Street
Motorcycle officers sit in the driveway of the Breslin Center, usually hiding behind porta-toilets that are put there during football season on campus. They watch westbound traffic heading towards Harrison.
The trap is just past Birch Street, westbound on Shaw Lane.
Okemos Rd, between GrandRiver and Hamilton (30 MPH area).
Before the trap the speed limit is 45, then suddenly its 30. new folks beware!
Most people drive at around 40, I got a $90 ticket for going 40 on that 30MPH stretch :(, AND 2 POINTS
I-96 Cedar
One unmarked police car and two marked police cars park near the entry ramp. They hand out 4 pt. misdemeaner tickets (90 day jail sentence) to those who violate "failure to yield to left lane for emergency responders". Entry ramps are more difficult to pull over because of possible cars behind you. The Lansing State Journal has run negative articles on these people.
