Livonia, Michigan Speed Traps

Eight Mile Rd. Eastbound between Newburgh and Farmington. Livonia cop sits at entrance of subdivision at Ellen Dr. or entrance of Glen Eden cemetery and shoots east bound traffic. Farmington Hills police like to sit in this area as well only on the opposite side of the road anywhere between Newburg and Farmington.

Going North or South on Middlebelt, the officer sits in Ford parking lot on the west side of the road. As you go down the hill/under the via duct ,there he is.Reasoning and( confirmation of the speed trap) is that a study was done on high accident count along that stretch. This so called study has yet to be produced. The 3 lanes in each direction make it difficult to get in the proper lane to turn into business.The average speed on that road (as told by the officer) is 50 mph and is posted at 40. If it is a saftey concern then why do they hide and ticket, instead of being present to slow traffic? I think we know.

This trap is a result of a program Livonia put into effect called STAR I am unsure of what the acromym means but I kno it has something to do with enforcing intersections in Livonia during busy days and the cops sit in parking lots around the intersection and will gun people and a car down the street will write people up it varies between north and southbound traffic they are also very strict on running the red light and which is a problem because the light goint North/South on merriman is green for about 30 sec

Lately I’ve seen a lot of enforcement on Newburgh between Joy and 6 mile. The other day there was a cop almost every mile shooting radar or pulling somebody over. I was going five over and wasn’t stopped so if you’re careful and look ahead to notice the butt ugly Livonia police cars then you’ll be fine.

Four to six Livonia Police Department squad cars ooperate in a cluster. One is stationary, operating a Lidar while the others chase and write citations. The speed limit is 70MPH and traffic is heavy with average speed 75MPH or higher. These squad cars are very busy. This is Michigan State Police turf and the Livonia cars are obviously in extortion mode instead of protecting the citizens of Livonia inside the city. Six squad cars is probably half the Livonia force.
