Oxford, Michigan Speed Traps
Seymour Lake Road near Burdick Street
Village police sit along the cemetery at the base of the hill and catch eastbound traffic in the 25mph zone. Also a bit east of that is a shaded shoulder area in front of some residences, on the north side, where the officers await their prey.
W. Burdick Street near Polly Ann Trail
On W. Burdick St. as drivers approch EB toward town. Speed limit is 25mph from 40mph west of town. As drivers approach and crest the top of the hill in front of the cemetery and prior to the Polly Ann nature trail, officers sit on the north side of the road, just east of the party store.
Baldwin Road near Dirt part of Baldwin Road
Just on the dirt part of Baldwin Road they sit North of the cemetry on the west side of the road. the speed limit is 25 here and soon turns to 55 just north of their position. It is hidden by trees that hang over the road and you are going downhill (a considerable downward grade) so going above 25 is very likely, you have to ride your brake to maintain your speed. I have seen 5 cars pulled over at once here. one car will sit and radar and a cop standing in the road flagging you to pull over and they line up the customers. 3 people I know got it here. No breaks.
Lakeville/Burdick Road near Beaver Stair
Oxford police love to sit just east of the Beaver Stair building in the driveway of a new subdivision on the north side. Coming from the east, by the Oxford Middle School, the speed limit goes from 50 (25 if school zone light is blinking) to 35 and just before Beaver Stair, the speed limit drops to 25 which continues all the way through downtown. They also like to sit in the Oxford Post Office parking.
State Highway M-24 near Oakwood Road
Deputy an over zealous Oakland County Sheriff Deputy who works as a motor carrier enforcement vehemently patrols M-24 from just north of the city of Oxford all the way north to Davis Lake Rd. (county line). Expect this guy anwhere in this stretch as he not only tickets for commercial truck violations (lights, over weight, etc..) but anything else he thinks he can. He’s reknown for writing and abundance of tickets (I’ve heard 70 weekly) and I’ve seen MANY (as compared to other "peace" ahem officers violation recipients in court. This guy is even known to write violations he supposedly observes while he’s off duty in his personal vehicle and then mail’s the civil infraction via registered mail! There are other Oakland County Sheriff deputy’s who have been know n to use these tactics. If you’re the recipient of this tactic, FIGHT IT in a FORMAL hearing and send a message that citizens are fed up with this revenue collection system
