Interstate 275 near Between Ann Arbor Rd exit & Ford Rd exit

Plymouth, MichiganJul 31, 20040 Comments

Interstate, three lanes each direction, roadway rises for bridge over railroad tracks, local (Plymouth Township) officer parks in median just past bridge railings below level of highway surface, thanks to Michigan’s two tier speed law, especially dangerous for trucks in center lane, which is easy to do as this is a major suburban connector Interstate with traffic entering a quarter mile in either direction, radar may pass under commercial vehicle and take reading of car passing on the right. Also for some reason officer does not need to testify in person at local court, so charge will not be dismissed if officer is not present.

Fri-Sat nights- can be seen parked (lights out) facing north in the video store parking lot on the east side of Main Street (just north of Ann Arbor Road). They watch traffic coming south out of downtown Plymouth, and can surprise northbound traffic as well.

M-14 & Beck Rd

Plymouth, MichiganJun 19, 20030 Comments

This is a trap for Eastbound M-14 drivers as they cross under Beck Rd. An officer of the law will hide in the grassy triangle formed by the Eastbound on-ramp from Beck Rd. to M-14. Impossible to see until they’re behind you. Almost no radar warning due to the orientation of the police car behind the hill and pointing with the flow of traffic. I’ve seen this trap active mid-day on week days but it may also be active on weekends. Does not seem to be active during the PM rush but never rule these jokers out.
