Utica Road near north of M-59

Utica, MichiganMar 24, 20050 Comments

Utica drops from 45 mph in one section coming from van dyke down to 35 mph then to 25 mph. Cops will sit in unmarked cars either at the church or the old lumber yard or a side street waiting for unsuspecting motorist’s to either come one way w/o noticing the change in speed or to come the other way from off the freeway. Watch the posted speeds and don’t let the guy behind you push you into going faster. I have been pulled over twice for forgetting about the drop in speed.. usually later at night after rush hour

M-59 at Mound Rd entrance ramp

Utica, MichiganOct 30, 20030 Comments

Cops will sit on the entrance ramp at Mound and radar people going westbound. When they are serious, you may see 4-5 cars and/or motorcycles lined up. One will get you with laser, and the others will come after you. I have only seen it in the morning, but it could be other times.

M-59/Dobry Road onramp

Utica, MichiganMay 07, 20031 Comments

East-bound M-59 before Old Van Dyke. Their is a onramp that connects Dobry Rd. to M-59 eastbound. Utica Police will park their patrol cars next to the concrete wall (on the Dobry Rd. side connector ramp) and clock traffic heading eastbound on M-59. M-59 Eastbound traffic is clueless that their is an officer parked on the other side of this concrete wall, while eastbound Dobry Rd. traffic is able to react because the patrol car is usually facing eastbound. The Police work this trap when traffic is light to moderate during the mid-day and late at night.
