Apple Valley, Minnesota Speed Traps
Hayes Road near County Trunk 42
There is a fire dept at the corner where the police cars lie in wait. There is a light at the end of Hayes Rd (T with Co. 42, so either you go left or right) so you will decelerate but police will say you hit >30 before you hit that corner. I know MANY people who have gotten tickets here.
153rd W Street near Garrett Avenue
The officer sits in the entrance to the Apple Valley Post Office with partial obstruction due to the fence and tree lined sidewalk. The speed limit is 30 mph with very little pedestrian traffic and no residential structures nearby.
Flagstaff Avenue near 147th W Street
The officer sits in the corner between 147th St W and Flagstaff (behind Menards). Depending on the work being done in the area, there may or may not be a physical barrier partially obstructing view from 147th.
While most side streets in Apple Valley are 40 to 45, this area is 30 without any pedestrian traffic or residential structures within several hundred feet.
Elm Drive near West 150th Street
Only 1000ft from speed limit change. Speed limit is 40mph, then changes to 45mph
147th Street near Foliage Avenue
Just east of Foliage Ave, south side of 147th St. W, there is a Wal Mart loading/unloading dock where the police park. The area is partially covered with foliage. The speed limit 30 mph, very unrealistic for the road. Unmarked Mustangs have been used.
