Elk River, Minnesota Speed Traps
Traffic coming from Zimmerman on weekdays at 5:30 am in the dark are supposed to reduce speed to 55 from 65 a block north of the first of 5 sets of stoplights. At least once a week a road pirate is parked in the median between north and southbound lanes in front of the Menards store, his radar tuned to that first intersection. If one doesn’t have their speed under 55 by then he slaps them with a hefty fine($126 minimum.”)
One patrol officer will park near Sherburne/Anoka County line the other one will be in the median (summertime with lights off) or Kelley Farm entrance just east of Broadway Bar Pizza in Elk River.

Police sit on side of road BEHIND grove of trees just north of Elk River High School, one block north of School St. They aim their radar at southbound traffic that is coming down a short but fairly steep hill.
