Hampton, Minnesota Speed Traps
US Highway 52 near Goodwin Avenue
This area just north of Goodwin Ave where the NB and SB lanes of 52 are not level is called the "fishbowl" locally. Squads will sit in the center median facing south, catching northbound traffif as you come around a curve and the hill.
Highway 52 and Fischer Road
Going North on 52, just south of Hampton. As you peak the hill there is a trooper sitting on the east side of the highway facing west on Fischer. He tags for 74 in a 65. You would hope that they are spending there time driving, being a visable deterrant, rather that sitting on their rears looking just for something to do.
Little Oscar’s parking lot or gas station next to Little Oscars
A few times I have seen a cop sitting in the Little Oscar’s parking lot or at the gas station next to Little Oscars, facing the highway. Going from the south to the north, the cop is virtually hidden by the surroundings (i.e. trees). And going from the north to the south, the cop car tends to blend in to the other vehicles at either location. I have not been busted (yet anyway), but I often travel a lot faster than 65 mph and have been lucky so far.
