On Highway 169 both South and North of the City

The speed limit changes from 55 MPH to 30 MPH abruptly on both sides of the town. In the past two weeks, the city has hired a supplemental part-time officer who conducts speeding stops of inattentive recreational travelers and of bar/restaurant patrons leaving the local restaurant parking lots. On more than one occasion, customers have been stopped and interviewed when parking at the local bar/restaurant. The Minnesota fishing season is about to begin and I suspect the Hill City city council has decided to supplement it’s decreasing revenues with traffic court revenue. If you are northbound during the summer vacation season, I suggest you avoid highway 169 through Hill City or be very careful as you drive through.

Cops are very sneaky and will pull you over for anything. Often 2 or 3 cops per night even though it is a very small town. County Deputies and State Patrol around alot to.
